Am I eligible for this course?
This course is designed for electricians and electrical apprentices. Because it builds on grid-connected PV knowledge, there are additional prerequisite requirements for Battery Design & Install.
Licensed electricians
You must hold an unrestricted electrical licence issued by an Australian state or territory.
Electrical apprentices
Electrical apprentices can enrol, but a Statement of Attainment will only be issued once they hold an unrestricted electrical licence or can demonstrate that they have completed the required prerequisite units in their studies.
The required electrical prerequisite combination is:
One of:
- UEEEL0039 — Design, install and verify compliance and functionality of general electrical installations
OR
- UEERE0051 — Apply electrical principles to renewable energy design
AND
- UEEEL0012 — Install low voltage wiring, appliances, switchgear and associated accessories
The AND here is important. It is shown clearly in the official Battery course booklet and is consistent with the current SAA pathway.
Grid-connected PV prerequisite
This course builds on the knowledge of the Grid-Connected PV Systems Design and Install course. You must also hold a Statement of Attainment for:
UEERE0061 — Design grid-connected photovoltaic power supply systems
If you hold an older PV design unit
If you do not hold UEERE0061 but have a Statement of Attainment in one of the following superseded units, you may be eligible for a gap assessment for UEERE0061:
- UEERE0011 — Design grid-connected photovoltaic power supply systems
- UEENEEK135A — Design grid connected photovoltaic power supply systems
- UEENEEK035C — Design grid connected power supply systems
- UEENEEK035B — Design grid connected power supply systems
Not sure where you stand? Call 1300 388 787 and we will tell you before you pay for anything.
What you come away with
Four nationally recognised units of competency and a pathway to Solar Accreditation Australia accreditation.
UEERE0054
Conduct site survey for grid-connected photovoltaic and battery storage systems
UEERE0060
Design grid-connected battery storage systems
UEERE0077
Install battery storage equipment power conversion equipment to grid
UEERE0078
Install battery storage to power conversion equipment
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for these units and can apply to Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) for Grid-Connect Battery Storage Design & Installation accreditation.
Site survey and install work you practise on the course.
